GEURILLA MARKETING YO.
Clayton brought over spraypaint, so we worked with canvases, and tagged stuff. Then, using the stencil for the old poster (shown on the profile pic.) we made ominous dark purple posters and hung them up around town. No words, no cheap, overrated, no good words... Just a really cool poster that'll definetly get peoples attention. It's called Geurilla marketing. No words, just an idea through pictures. You may see them if you're around town.

MAKE THAT 95!! (post by Carlll-Robert)
I like this more laid back blog thing. And Clayton, the triple L thing looks like an omen symbol... it's awesome. "LLL" symbol of satanism (muahahahaha). Anyway, having to do with the band... I THINK I GOT THE MUSIC THING ON THE MYSPACE TO WORK!!! WOOH!!! I hadn't even been going on the myspce cuz we couldn't get music on it but now we can. The link was for when we were Pseudo (those days r gone) so the link is www.myspace.com/pseudostuff. I think you're gonna wanna paste that to your adress bar. Anyway. Myspace is a place for friends *cheesy smile* *ding!*.

Spraypaint/Misc. (clllayton)

I LOVE SPRAY PAINTING! I've actually been into it since I got my cast on. (The current icon is actually carl-robert's and my creation.) If I had a camera I would upload a bunch of stuff.
Which brings me to my next point, we need more pictures! A lot more. So from now one we shall try and upload photos with our posts. It'll make the blog more interesting. Later...
A Better Blog (clllayton)

I was just checking out radioheads blog: DEAD AIR SPACE. And I think we're writing like stiffs. We also got to get better graphics on the blog. I don't know...flashing lights, live clips of us playing at gigs. Also I think we need to post more. Even if we don't have anything to say. (By the way since nobody ever goes on this thing I'm kind of talking to my band.) Whatever...
IT'S OVER!!! (clayton)
I'M FREE! Today I went into boston and the othapedic guy said that I am splint free (Carl-Robert prenounsed it wrong.) I am so happy it's over. Actually it wasn't that bad. Except when I couldn't drum, because that was torture. My wrist is still a little numb and swollen, but the guy (Dr. Waters) said that would go back to normal in 2 months. Well I'm glad thats over. Clayton...OUT!

Haleluja!! (post by Carl-Robert)
I think that's how you spell it... anyway, this might be kind of awkward considering the post before this is about how much Clayton hates his cast, but, he just got it off!! WOOH!! It's not totally gone but he healed so well that instead of giving him another cast the doctors just put him in a sling. He can drum now!! We jammed yesterday and were practicing this awesome really really intense song I just made up. Ya. We'll post more now.

Ruining my personal life (Clayton)
I can't stand this stupid cast any longer. Not only can I not take a shower normally but I can't even write. Also since its still summer I can't go in the water. It blows. But worst of all I can only do one beat on the drums one handed. Everyone insists that I do the Def Leopard thing and drum one handed. If I hear that one more time I'm gonna lose it. It doesn't help that school starts this Thursday. I'll keep you posted.

Gigantor Cast
Clayton just got his cast on. It's big... and white... but he's going to spray-paint it with stencils. SCHOOL'S ALMOST IN SESSION!!!! We're (or I am, Carl-Robert) super excited about school starting but also wicked annoyed summer's over. Anyway... HWAO!

New Drum Head (post by Carl-Robert)
We're gonna get more later but the person who is painting My house gave the band a drum head to replace the old broken one. It fit perfectly. It's a really nice Remo-brand type. We're gonna get more of that kind. Anyway, I'm going to be seeing Radiohead tomorrow night. I got some lawn tickets. Fun Fun Fun! Also, incase you haven't noticed, the videos are also in the video bar under... well Mind The Gap, of course!

Bad News (Clayton)
I have bad news. It turns out that I have a deformity in my right wrist. Whats happening is one of the two bones is growing and the other one has stoped. If this continues my wrist might be crippled my entire life. But there is hope. There is a surgery were I can halt the growth of one bone and make the other bone grow more. First I have to get an MRI sometime in the middle of July, I'll keep you posted. But the really bad news (that realates this to the band) is that I will be in a cast for six weeks after the surgery (if it goes well.) That meens no drumming for six WHOLE weeks, the rest of the summer! Just hope that they let me drum for the SIX WEEKS of phsyical therapy following getting my cast off.

New Gigs (liam and carl-robert)
We have two new gigs coming up. One's at a Mexican place called La Chiquitå's. The other is opening for the band Das Pintos.
We are also starting to get really tight and are working on a new song with like three completley different parts and a bass solo. In terms of website (domain) and graphic designer stuff, we have Liam's dad commited to helping us get started with a website. And then the Das Pintos graphic designer is a possibility. Aside from all that, we just started taking rock ensemble at this totally awesome psycedelic music school in West Newbury and while we're working on our songs (and covering Cherub Rock) Max, Claytons bro, is taking a tech workshop. This means that he is now part of the band basically as our techy and roadie since we're starting to play more gigs now.

BONNAROO '08! (post by carl-robert)
I had a totally psychedelic second year at the 'roo in Manchester, TN. All the bands were amazing and we saw a wide variety ranging from Vampire Weekend (incredible and energetic), to Cat-power (front row) to whatever. The lineup was amazing and the camping was great too. My favorite show was probably Pearl Jam (he talked about how we should bring our troops home), but it tied with Raconteurs. By the time it's over you're left so satisfied that your not even sad to leave... If you can (we got stuck in a rush of people called a "cluster-f**k" who all wanted to "beat the coming crowd" at the same time). Anyway, sorry we haven't posted in a while... we have no excuse. Can't wait till 'Roo '09!

Succesful Gig (Carl-Robert)
The gig wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. People seemed to really dig us (I guess). Although it was fairly short (Okay like 45 min.), we got our music out there and had an excuse to ditch school early. The two songs we played were, "Into the Forrest" and our instrumental "Feed On Inspiration" which went great. All our new equipment is perfect too. Some other kool thing is that Clayton's dad's band's poster designer/graphic designer is gonna help us out with designing the blog.

Summer... [clayton]
It's getting to that time of year when everyone starts counting the days till' summer. There are a lot of positive things about the summer (14 days for my school). These are some positive things about summer. Hanging out with your friends, the beach (for people lucky enough to have one), and for many NO SCHOOL! But some things are making summer a drag. Summer reading, speedo's for men, and the return of high school musical (it doesn't even deserve to be capitalised). I kind of forget what this has to do with mtg. Whatever...

Fooey!! (Clayton and Carl-Robert)
It turns out that we aren't exactly going to get to play a full set-list at the school. We're really only allowed three songs. Apparently it's fortahe "life skillz allstars" some group of kids who learned about the dangers of drugs and alchohol. Drugs are bad! Anyway, Clayton's dad made an amazingly awesome bass drum with Mind the Gap spray-painted on it. Because of this we probably won't be the main focus of the crowd, but it's an oppurtunity anyway. Oh well, punk at a public school is pretty radical anyway~

Vote for your favorite band!
There are only six more days to vote for your favorite band. If you haven't noticed there is a poll booth on the right side of the blog. In this poll booth you can vote for your favorite band. The 2 leading bands are The Clash and Sex Pistols [both have 4 votes]. The Buzzcocks are at 2nd place with 3 votes. Poor old Mind The Gap is 3rd place with 1 vote.

Craigslist (Clayton)
Walter (our sound engineer extrodinare) found this awsome deal for a full PA system on Craigslist for $400! The PA system is: 4 very loud 150 watt. monitors [huge speakers], a mixer, and a double sided amp. If all that was new that would all cost about $1500! It was also great because the guy [I think his name was Eddy] lived in massachusetts an hour drive away. Carl-Robert, Liam, Carl-Robert's Dad and I got in the car and drove to the guys place. When we got there we had extra time and there was a Newbury Comics in town. After that we found the guys house. He showed us how to work the thing and we carried it to the car. He didn't included the XLR cables which we needed. Lucky for us there was Daddy's Junky Music and Guitar Center in town [we went to Daddy's]. The Stupid Cables Cost $160!! THATS PRACTICALLY 100S OF BUCKS MORE THAN ALL THE FOUR MONITORS!! PLUS THESE WERE THE CHEAP CABLES!! We got back to his house and left all the stuff there so we could go see Shine a Light in IMAX. I highly recomend it. The next morning we set the mixers up with the help of Walter. Liam and I left when the problems started.

Oh...Yeah.... [Clayton]
I guess we have forgotten to post some important things that have gone on in the last couple of days. Weird huh! Anyways... Steve quit the band permanently. Which is a great weight taken off our sholders because he really didn't do all that much as manager. Whatever... not my problem. OHHHH YYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAHH!!! I forgot the most suprising news....... WE CHANGED THE NAME BACK TO MIND THE GAP!!!!!! I'm sooooo happy! It really is a better name than Pseudo [it sounds Jappenese]. So we decided that we would screw the dance band with the same name. ANARCHY!!!!! YEEAAHH!!! But the Pseudo phase wasn't all negative. It was our bands most MONDO creative phase. We came up with the band colors, logos, and our most well put together songs. Okay Bye. "Yo Flava Flav Boyyyyeeeee!!"

It's Official
The person in charge of the Nock middle school gig finally gave us the actual date. The gig is on the very first week of May. That means that it would make sense to go to Daddy's Junky Music™ or Guitar Center™ soon to get the mixer and some new drum heads. On the week of the gig we are going to practice a solid hour every day and then at the exact day of the gig (which we aren't totally clear on yet) we'll practice for a long time. An awesome to sets (each with 5 songs) set list has been made. Rock On

Skeptical Thinking (Carl-Robert)
Recently, my mom's friend's friend said something about how it supposedly isn't safe to post music on your myspace or blog. I was really skeptical about this. What music producer would want to take a bunch of kids crappily recorded music?! All that really matters is that we manage to get out there. I recorded an acoustic instrumental and tried to put it on myspace but it said the file (which I recorded on garage band before exporting to iTunes) was too big. Does anybody know how to make an mp3 file smaller? Please comment.

Looking for Mixer/EQ (Ca®l-Robert)
We recently saved up enough money to pay for a mixer/EQ for the band. Believe it or not we hadn't been practicing with vocals for a while. We haven't bought the thing yet but we are looking for something that has a built in amp but doesn't need to be hooked up to a PA system. We already have two moniters and two speakers/amps so we are pretty much covered there. Plus we already have a microphone. Our equipment advisor and friend Walter is going to help us track down a decent one by April (hopefully) which is the time of the school gig. Comment if you have any suggestions. One last thing, we recently made up a tottally catchy but also indie new song. It's called "Crazy Telemarketers" and it's about telemarketers disturbing your privacy. Clayton and I wrote it. It will definetly be in the set-list for the gig.
Gigs on the Horizon... (Clayton)
We have two known gigs coming up. We have the Lynn Mass thing, which I don't know a thing about. And the stupid guy who was planning the Nock Gig finally told us the party was in April! I'm kinda happy we didn't bail on him. Even then he made us wait 4 MONTHS TO TELL US WHEN THE GIG WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!!! We will get the set list(s) up for you to see eventually.
I hope...
Note to Clayton: Sorry for writing on your post but unfortunatley there will be no Lynn, MA gig. We missed the deadline for demo tapes. Awesome DAS PINTOS post.

Das Pintos! With a name like that people have to be interested! (Clayton)
In a town like Newburyport you can't walk 2 blocks in downtown before you see a local musical arist gig poster in a shop window. One day I was "walking around" and I saw this awsome graphic art poster in Joppa Fine Foods. The poster said "Das Pintos, wir sin mas macho, saturday 22nd at the grog, get da funk out! (the poster had a chick with HUGE sunglasses and a fro)". So I was like, "WOW!" This is great, I gotta tell somebody! So I rushed home and told my folks. Since they had nothing going on they went to the show on Saturday at the Grog resteraunt. They said the show was awsome. So I found their website and I'm going to link it to ours, once I figure out how to. Spread the music man!!!!

MONEY!! WOOHOO! (Carl-Robert)
We've raised ALOT of money for the band. We're going to spend it on a mixer/EQ for vocals (did I already say that?). I've already let out my anger but we ended up missing the submission date for trying out. Instead, we are going to send a tape to this online radio station called U-N-U that could give us wider recognition. Also, as a response to Clayton's message, I'm sorry about that and you now have permission to change my posts (especially this one since I repeated a bunch of stuff). I usually just do it to yours because of spelling. Rock On.
Message for Carl-Robert (Clayton)
Carl Robert stop deleting posts. I know I just deleted one a week ago but that was my own post. Please stop deleting my posts or adding little things to them. It pisses me off. Tomorow is practice day! Sweet!!!

"Cut My Hair" Short (Clayton)
I cut my hair short yesterday. At least it still covers up the top of my ears. Whatever, I needed it cut. Carl Robert and Liam are gonna flip when they see how much the barber cut off (even though Carl-Robert got a bad cut too). I don't know why i'm posting this. Maybe as a tribute to the rebel of mods and the who ("Cut My Hair"). I'm kinda light headed and it's been a long week. Long live my old hair...man! Oh, and we are going to make up a song called "Mind the Gap" at practice Wednesday. Yea it's true I was kinda pissed at Liam.
7 Mar 2008
Woah... Clayton (Carl-Robert)
Okay Clayton has seemed pretty pissed off at Liam. First of all, Liam WAS throwing dead rat tails around one practice (that was just gross), and second, Liam wouldn't give the band any money (he finally gave $45.00). We now have $160.25 in all. Pretty sick accomplishment if you ask me. We have confirmed that we will play the monthly gig event in Lynn, MA so we will be at the next one of those. Also, Liam and I got to go to Friendly's® (yippee!) but it kind of sucks because Clayton wanted to go more than me but he couldn't. The band is almost one year old so in April we will be "running around, destroying the forces of evil (to quote Clayton)". It's pretty sweet the band is almost one year old. Originally Clayton posted about Liam but then he deleted it so... yeah.

Yes! (Carl-Robert)
We finally found something! It was on craigslist and it's an annual event at Central Square in Lynn, MA. Apparently they are looking for all different kinds of bands. The title of the poster was "GREAT bands wanted" so I guess we qualify (ha). We don't know much about it yet though.

"Teacozy" and "Faceplant"
-Gigs
Our gig finding is not going well. So far I've only come up with Fiddle Compitions in the Newburyport area. Which is not ideal to say the least. It's looking pretty bleak for Pseudo to play/find a gig before end of March/April. If we cannot we will change our band name to "Teacozy" or "Faceplant," which are hideous names. I (Clayton) am eternally loyal to the band and the blog. Therefore I would not lie about this type of thing.
-The origin of Faceplant and Teacozy
Back earlier in Febuary of 2008 Carl-Robert, Liam, and I were celibrating my 13th birthday at Liam's slopeside condo in Maine. THE PARENTS were expressing their hatred for our band name Pseudo. As they were talking about how "the name doesn't fit" and "it sounds like your trying to be somebody," they came up with the stupid band names "Faceplant" and "Teacozy." Also, the band fund is doin' good.

This is Lame
Our blog is so lame! We cannot find any gigs and are not even posting any videos of us playing or posted mp3s because of a bunch of annoying reasons (the crappy quality of garageband being one of them). Does anybody know of any youth rock venues looking for bands? Please comment if you do because believe it or not we are kind trying to break out of the "garage band' stage. I (Carl-Robert) no longer have any excuses about not finding gigs but I'm making a truce that we will have found a gig by the end of March/April and if we haven't we will change the band name to "Teacozy" or "FacePlant" which were two of the hideously lame names our fans came up with previously. Wish us luck.

Myspace Account and Other Things (Carl-Robert)
We decided it was time to start a myspace account so we did. The address is www.myspace.com/pseudostuff. I think we will probably have to change it to something cooler like myspace.com/pseudonation. The documentary is going great but we cant exactly film any "band-room preformances" yet because we don't have a proper mixer/EQ for the microphone. Other than that we are filming lots of interviews with eachother and other people and using footage from previous gigs. We are kind of in a strange situation because nobody exept the band is happy with "Pseudo" (those people being our parents) but we stand our ground and refuse to change it. Also, Clayton and I recently made a new song at Clayton's birthday. It's annoying because somebody sent Clayton a blog where this kid was posting local venues open to booking youth-rock bands in MA but he lost it so now we are hopeless. I apologize that the stupid gig video is taking so long to get on youtube. There are some annoying little editing issues. For the meantime, we might as well give you the link to the video of the worst song we played ("moak" but it says "town rejected"): http://youtube.com/watch?v=tjXXeHSz34g--It still says MTG. Please don't mke fun of us and thanks for watching.

Awesome Ski Trip

For Clay's birthday we all went up to Sugarloaf to ski. We made a sick ski jump in the back yard of the condo after the lifts shut down due to bad windy conditions. Carl-Robert went too but we only got pictures of Liam and Clayton. Don't ask why we are posting this since it has nothing to do with the band. Here they are:
31 Jan 2008
The New Band Name
Well we changed our name for real this time. It's now Pseudo which is a fancy way to say "fake" or "not really true". Everyone thinks it's cool because we sound more alternative and more creative and the definition is kind of an ironic reference. The other name Carl-Robert came up with was "Rival Tribes". So after much talking the band and our manager Steve decided we would make "Mind The Gap" & "Rival Tribes" both songs or albums.
Alot has changed for the band in only one month. First of all Steve is now manager & publicist, WE CHANGED OUR NAME! It's crazy. We'll keep posting. Check Out the U.I.A. it's pretty cool.

The U.I.A (Carl-Robert)
I recently started a blog called the "Underground Indie Appeal" or "United Institution of Anarchy". It's a blog for novice indie punks to get away from the mainstream and check up on media, and other stuff from up and coming indie-punk bands. You should seriously check it out it's pretty cool.

Led Zeppelin at 'Roo?

The big question everyone is wondering about... Will Led Zeppelin play at Bonnaroo 2008? Will it affect the price of tickets? When British rock band the Cult announced that a band whose name started with "L" and had a "Z" at the beginning of the second half would play at Bonnaroo, some rumors got out. There is definitely a chance that if they do play after all the ticket prices will be much more expensive than the usual $200 bucks considering that at the o2 arena tickets were selling at insane prices of $25,000 dollars a ticket. When you think about it, though, what college kid is gonna pay 20,00 bucks to got to a music fest? Nobody. It's gotten so you can't look in a single music article without reading about it. Aside from all these rumors, be sure to check out the sick new website if you haven't already.
23 Jan 2008
A Major Change (Carl-Robert)
Of all three posts I wrote today (I was home sick) this one is the most important. Steve quit the band... kind of. He hadn't been as commited as he could have been on playing the actual songs, so after alot of talk and second chances he decided it would be best if he quit... kind of. He is now the official photographer, media publicist, part manager, gig organizer, and tambourine player. Basically, he has a more important job than anyone in the "band, band" now. He's still a major part of the music to and is the director and cameraman filming the rockumentary I wrote about (which is going pretty good). Steve will also help majorly on recording studio research. So, you could pretty much say that the future of the band is in his hands. No pressure to him though (HA HA). So here's to our awesome new photographer, media publicist, part manager, and gig organizer. Or just the "media phomanigizer"
Say Good-Bye to "Our" Name
Yes, it's true, if you didn't already know there is apparently already a popular but lame European dance band that had Mind the Gap before us. So, as we desperately try to think of new names, they're feeling guilty (not). We're sticking with MTG for now but please comment if you can think of any good names. We thought of " The Schizophrenics (been done)" "The Impersonations (sounds like a cover band)" and some other horrible names.
Rockumentary (Carl-Robert)
As soon as we can we're gonna start working on a rock doc. about MTG. I have some good footage from our 2 latest gigs and lots of other things we could add in. Also, just the experience of a documentary involves things like clips of us jamming writing songs, being interviewed, etc. It probably won't be finished until next year but who knows. The important thing is that we take it seriously. Maybe once it's finished and burned to a disk we could sell it somewhere (naah)! A few rock docs I highly reccomend are "Rock School", "The Future is Unwritten (Clash)", "Spinal Tap", and I'm desperate to see the new Dylan one...

Almost my Birthday [Clayton]
Well I will be 13 soon. I'm going to have two partys because the band and my friends from school together would be an unimaginable chaos. I don't want that. So I'm going to have a standard PARTY ALL NIGHT AND ROCK YOUR FACES OFF thing at my house with the band. Make songs, hang out downtown, get sugar drunk. That sort of thing (don't worry we'll post that night). Then my school friends and I will go ski for the day. It's gonna be great. Have you noticed how we like to post about partys? It's in our blood I guess.
Peace...
Peace...

2008-The Year to Record!

Well there was a snow day today. After lunch Clayton went with Steve to sled at a really cool local hill.
We really need to start recording within this year. Carl-Robert thinks we should buy recording equipment and make our own independent label which would take ALOT of money. There are a few good reasons why we should record at another studio though and we've written them below.
1.Their equipment would be way better than ours (and they would be able to work it)
2.At a place like Slaughter House records it costs very little (no block fees) to record an album in a possible one-day session
3.Thousands of dollars cheaper to mix and do finishing touches on an album at a studio (if they have a mix creator...)
4.Better quality sound
5.A recording company that recorded Nirvana's very first album has to be open for new talent. Lucky for us.
Even though we don't know much about it yet (and we should probably find out more) we are seriously considering slaughter-house records for a band like us (open minds are good too!)

Lazy Bones (Carl-Robert)
Clayton and I just keep on writing really good songs one after the other. Today we made a depressing, very meaningful, Sonic Youth inspired song. It'd be a great to possibly have a girl guest-sing for it. We are also seriously considering recording an album sometime this year (more seriously compared to our 2nd post!). We actually have about 4 options open for recording so it'll be fun to finally work with somebody else. Then again we might decide to wait longer and play more smallish gigs for publicity. The gig at the local middle school is coming up so playing for the whole 6th grade will be good for us. Anyway, we've ditched (for good?) alot of our old songs that aren't really that great anymore for our newer, better ones.

About That Time (that we used experimental lyrics) [Clayton]
Actually "About That Time is the great song Carl-Robert and I just made. It's got totally experimental lyrics & it rocks. We're not posting the lyrics because we don't trust you (take that internet pirates). It was fun to take more of a chance on the lyrics instead of having them all be about one thing (which we had been doing before). I can't wait to show Liam & Steve and see what they think of it. Carl-Robert and I always write really great songs and it's so punk-rock. We should try to start recording soon. I think CR knows of a garage recording-studio somewhere in amesbury or something.
Peace...

"Into The Forest" (Liam+Carl-Robert)
We're working on a new song called "Into The Forest" Clayton doesn't know about it yet but it's kind of a story song like "Tommy". It's about boy who's really shy and kind of retarded but he's unbelievebly good at playing guitar. We're up at Sugarloaf skiing so it will be finished by the end of the weekend.

Update On Liam's Arm (Carl-Robert)
Sorry, apparently he can play bass... just not the top string. what a relief. I finnaly figured how to put videos on youtube now so they hopefully will be there soon (did I already say that before in an earlier post?). Anyway, I just wanted to say that Liam's arm is fine (he just got an average rockstar injury). For all our friends who are reading the blog please remember to comment!!

The Unfortunate Event Of Liam Breaking His Arm... (Carl-Robert)
Liam broke his arm. It was very unexpected because we thought it was just a minor fracture but it turns out to be broken. It got broken at the MTG gig after-party when he tripped. Sadly, now he can't play bass for a while so we'll have to do without melodic rythm for a while. Also, notice how we changed the colors of the blog. GET WELL SOON LIAM!!

New Years!!!
It's now 2008! This is Clayton and we're at Carl-Robert's house for a New Years Party! It's awesome so far and it's about 2:00 in the morning. We're just hanging out and talking about the carriage house gig, writing lyrics and stuff. Annoyingly, we realized we can't call our song Moak "Moak" anymore [for legal resons] so we're going to come up with another cool name. This is the first post of 2008. Also, we FINNALY figured out how to get videos on youtube so we're going to put the whole concert on. You'll be able to see it in about a week. Anyway, Happy New Years (for the third time) officialy!!
